A story set against the Mountain Meadows Massacre, the film is based upon the tragedy which occurred in Utah in 1857. A group of settlers, traveling on wagons, was murdered by the native Mormons. All together, about 140 souls of men, women and children, were taken. Amidst this, two young lovers-to-be, one a Mormon and the other one of the doomed settlers from Arkansas, develop a relationship in an atmosphere of suspicion and rancor.

I used this clip to bolster teaching on Spiritual Authority and how to deal with civil authority. Acts 4:18-20 "And when they had summoned them, they commanded them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus. But Peter and John answered and said to them, "Whether it is right in the sight of God to give heed to you rather than to God, you be the judge; for we cannot stop speaking about what we have seen and heard." I am doing a study of I John. This clip fit perfectly in illustrating how easily people can be deceived. Those who John wrote to were in the midst of the gnostics false teaching. This clip helped set up my talk about false teaching.

This gives an excellent example of the tragedy of a false witness!

Clear illustration of the danger of Scripture twising and misunderstanding the character of God. Men using religion to justify their own evil desires--an age-old problem.
